Partial Shipment for WooCommerce makes it easy to ship orders in multiple parts. Store managers ship specific products or quantities directly from the WooCommerce order edit screen — while the original order stays intact.

The plugin tracks shipped and remaining quantities per item, automatically accounts for refunded items, and shows clear status badges to both managers and customers. Partially shipped orders move to a “Partially Shipped” status and complete automatically once everything is shipped, and a one-click backfill tool creates shipment records for your existing orders.

Why store owners choose it

  • Per-item, per-quantity shipment from the order screen — no split orders needed.
  • Refund-aware counts — refunded items are excluded, “Not Shipped” always shows the true remainder.
  • Status badges on order items, the admin orders-list popup, and the customer View Order page.
  • Manual shipment email action, backfill tool, HPOS compatible, translation ready — free forever.

Everything is configured under WooCommerce → Settings → Partial Shipment. Need tracking numbers, multiple shipments, delivery dates, packing slips, or REST API access? See Advance Partial Shipment for WooCommerce.

Features

📦

Per-item partial shipment

Ship specific products or quantities directly from the WooCommerce order edit screen while the original order stays intact.

🏷️

Partially Shipped status

Optional custom order status for partially shipped orders, with automatic completion once every item is marked as shipped.

💸

Refund-aware quantities

Fully-refunded items are labelled Refunded and excluded from shippable counts, so Not Shipped always shows the quantity still to ship.

🗂️

One-click backfill

Generate refund-aware shipment records for existing orders of the statuses you select (Completed by default). Orders with records are skipped.

🔍

Status badges everywhere

Shipment status with icons and tooltips on order items, inside the admin orders-list popup, and on the customer View Order page.

👁️

Customer visibility

Customers see shipped items and quantities on their order details page. Optionally hide the label until something is actually shipped.

✉️

Shipment email action

Trigger the partial-shipment notification email manually from the WooCommerce order actions dropdown whenever an order ships.

🌍

Modern WooCommerce ready

HPOS compatible with a dependency-free native modal, plus a shipped .pot file loading the wc-partial-shipment text domain.

How It Works

  1. 1

Ship items from the order screen

Open any order and set shipped quantities per item in the shipment popup, then save. No split orders, no manual spreadsheets.

  2. 2

    Status follows automatically

Partially shipped orders move to the Partially Shipped status; once every item is shipped the order is automatically marked Completed.

  3. 3

    Backfill your history

Run the one-click Backfill orders now tool for past orders of the statuses you choose. Refund-aware, and orders with records are skipped.

  4. 4

    Customers stay informed

Shipment badges appear on the customer View Order page, and you can fire the shipment notification email from the order actions menu.

Settings & Configuration

Partially Shipped status

Register a custom Partially Shipped order status for orders where only some items have been shipped.

Auto-complete when fully shipped

Automatically move the order to Completed once every item has been marked as shipped.

Hide status until partial

Hide the shipment status on the order page until at least one item has been partially shipped.

Show status in orders list popup

Display the shipment status inside the order details popup on the WooCommerce orders list.

Backfill statuses + tool

Choose which order statuses the one-click Backfill orders now tool processes (Completed by default). Refund-aware; already-processed orders are skipped.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where do I ship items partially?
From the WooCommerce order edit screen: open the order, use the Shipment button and popup to set shipped quantities per item. Plugin settings live under WooCommerce → Settings → Partial Shipment.
Q: Does the order status update itself?
Yes. When enabled, partially shipped orders move to the Partially Shipped status, and the order is automatically marked Completed once every item has been shipped.
Q: How are refunded items handled?
Fully-refunded items are labelled Refunded and excluded from shippable counts, so the Not Shipped badge always reflects the net quantity still to ship.
Q: Can I fix shipment data for old orders?
Yes. The Backfill orders now tool creates refund-aware shipment records for existing orders of the statuses you select (e.g. Completed), skipping orders that already have records.
Q: What do customers see?
Shipped items, quantities and status badges on their View Order page in My Account. You can also send the shipment notification email from the order actions dropdown.
Q: Where do I get support?
